Xiaomi launched the Mi Band 2

Xiaomi launched the Mi Band 2 in India

The company is putting the Mi Band 2 on sale for the first time.
The Mi Band 2 is the successor to last year’s Mi Band, which was launched for Rs 999. Xiaomi’s Mi Band 2 is a major upgrade over its predecessors when it comes to the overall design as well as features. The USP of the band is the OLED display, which helps to do away with the need to constantly keep checking the app. The Mi Band had no display and only featured three notification lights, but on the Mi Band 2, you can check fitness data and notifications on the OLED display. Another important feature of the Mi Band 2 is the heart-rate sensor placed at the back, which was missing on the predecessor.

Xiaomi has used military-grade materials, which the company claims help make the sensor resistant to scratches. The Mi Band 2 comes with customized alerts, which are designed to force you to get up from your desk and take a walk at regular intervals. The device is compatible with the Mi Fit app which is available on both Android and iOS. Other than showing activity and sleep data, the app allows users to manage alarms and check incoming calls and app alerts.

The Mi Band 2 is said to deliver battery life of 20 days on a single charge; Xiaomi claims it to be up to four times longer than similar fitness trackers. Xiaomi Mi Band 2 features an ADI accelerometer, an upgraded pedometer algorithm, and it also supports Bluetooth 4.0 (second-gen).

While launching the Mi Band 2, Xiaomi also said that the wearable is tough enough to survive the outdoors courtesy of the IP67 certification that makes it water, sweat and dust resistant. The bands are now made up of hypoallergic silicone that are suitable for different skin types.
