All-New KTM RC 390 Coming by 2017 End

KTM

KTM  has recently showcased the cosmetically updated RC 390 at Intermot 2016. All new model to be introduced by the end of next year.
The renowned Austrian motorcycle manufacturer - KTM has recently displayed the new RC 390 at Intermot 2016 but sadly that was just a cosmetic update. Only change besides the new graphics is that the new model was Euro-IV compliant and had a side mounted exhaust set up. Due to this, you not need to get disheartened as KTM will reportedly introduce the all-new feature loaded RC 390 by the end of next year.

Besides, the company revealed that the all-new 2017 KTM 390 Duke will be introduced at the EICMA motorcycle show that is scheduled for next month in Milan, Italy. The motorcycle has been spied numerous times in recent past and its footage has also surfaced on the internet that reveals some interesting information about the motorcycle. The updated 373cc streetfighter will come with added features like the top of the line 1290 Super Duke inspired body design, multiple riding modes, ride by wire technology and much more. The all-new KTM 390 Duke also features split LED headlamp section that has been recently seen on the new 1290 and 1090 adventure family that company showcased at the Intermot 2016.

The new KTM RC 390 is expected to come with a host of technical goodies just like the 2017 KTM 390 Duke. These might include multiple riding modes, ride by wire technology, coloured TFT instrument console and a lot more. Once launched in India, the new KTM RC 390 will take on the likes of Honda CBR 250R and upcoming Yamaha R15 V3.0 once launched. Coming to the pricing, the new KTM RC 390 will demand an extra premium over the existing version that currently retails at the dealerships at a price of INR 2.14 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

KTM 390 Adventure to be Launched in 2019

KTM

KTM has recently confirmed that the much awaited 390 Adventure will make its world debut in 2019.
Finally, a good news for all those who are eagerly waiting for the KTM 390 Adventure. The Austrian motorcycle manufacturer has recently confirmed Overdrive that the much-awaited entry-level adventure bike from KTM will make its official debut in 2019. The company has recently showcased its updated 1290 and 1090 adventure family at the ongoing 2016 Intermot motor show in Cologne, Germany and has plans to introduce the new Super Duke and 2017 KTM 390 Duke at EICMA in Milan next month.

The all-new KTM 390 Adventure is most likely to come with long travel suspension, a taller windscreen and a tall seat height. KTM calls the new bike belonging to the travel enduro category. The company says that the success of the KTM Adventure range is due to the simple reason that all its bigger capacity adventure bikes use Enduro based frames instead of road biased ones.

The engine in the new 390 Duke Adventure will hopefully be the same that will propel the 2017 KTM 390 Duke. The present generation KTM 390 Duke draws its power from a 373cc, single cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that comes mated to a six-speed transmission. The fuel injected motor cranks out a maximum power output of 43 bhp along with a peak torque of 35 Nm. The 2017 model of the 390 Duke will hopefully get a retuned engine in order to extract more power and performance. Also Read: New 2017 KTM 390 Duke global debut at EICMA 2016 in November

According to the recent spy shots and videos, the 2017 KTM 390 Duke will come feature loaded with multiple elements like ride-by-wire technology, TFT coloured screen on the instrument console and three riding modes that are easily the segment first. Besides, the motorcycle also gets unique split LED headlamp section that is also seen on the new KTM adventure family showcased at Intermot 2016. Having said that, all these features will hopefully be carried forward to the KTM 390 Adventure as well along with the new  ones that the company must have planned for the new adventure baby.

Xiaomi's Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus are going to boom the market

Xiaomi's upgraded Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus smartphones are here. From the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner on the Mi 5s to the dual-camera setup on the Mi 5s Plus, here's everything you need to know about the new smartphones.

Xiaomi has launched the much talked about Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus smartphones in China. As the names suggest, these are in essence upgraded versions of the flagship Mi 5 smartphone with better internals and features. Xiaomi’s Mi 5s has been launched in two variants — 64GB with 4GB RAM priced at 1,999 Yuan (Rs 19,900 approximately), and 128GB variant with 6GB RAM priced at 2,299 Yuan (Rs 22,900 approximately). The Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus similarly comes in two variants — 64GB variant priced at 2,299 Yuan and 128GB variant priced at 2,599 Yuan (Rs 26,000 approximately).

In addition to top-of-the-line specifications, both new Xiaomi smartphones come with some notable features. Let’s start with the Xiaomi Mi 5s first, and its highlight is the Qualcomm Sense ID ultrasonic fingerprint sensing technology. The fingerprint scanner is basically placed below the front glass, is extremely fast at recognizing fingerprints and is also more accurate. The technology uses ultrasonic waves to map the pores and ridges on a user’s finger, and the best part is, it also works when the finger is wet, dirty or oily. This technology is unsurprisingly more accurate and secure than standard fingerprint sensing tech.

Speaking of which, Xiaomi has surprisingly opted for a more orthodox fingerprint scanner for the Mi 5s Plus. The scanner is placed at the back underneath the rear cameras, which brings us to the Mi 5s Plus’ highlight — dual-camera setup. This setup includes a pair of 13-megapixel cameras with Sony sensors — one RGB sensor to capture color information, while the other is a black and white sensor. Again, this feature is only restricted to the Mi 5s Plus, and Xiaomi has opted for a standard 12-megapixel snapper at the back with a Sony IMX378 sensor.

The Xiaomi Mi 5s will be available in four color variants — dark gray, silver, gold and rose gold. The gold and dark gray comes with brushed metal on the back and rose gold and silver back with matte anodizing process. There is also a special 3D ceramic version, similar to one launched with the Mi 5 earlier this year. Surprisingly, the back panel of the Mi 5s is marred with ugly antenna lines that remind us of last year’s iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Thankfully that is not the case with the Mi 5s Plus, which looks more like a Redmi Note Pro. It will also be available in four colors, and boasts a brushed metal body.
Xiaomi Mi 5s specifications
Xiaomi Mi 5s smartphone features a 5.15-inch full HD (1080p) display with 2.5D glass and 600 units brightness. Another highlight of the Mi 5s is the pressure-sensitive display on the smartphone’s 128GB storage variant. Powered by Synaptics’ technology, the pressure-sensitive display can distinguish between light and hard taps. The overall functionality is pretty similar to what you get on Apple’s new iPhones.

The Xiaomi Mi 5s also features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, and its rear camera comes with features 4-axis camera image stabilization, f/2.3 aperture. Up front, there is a 13-megapixel selfie camera, and the smartphone also features 3,200mAh battery, and connectivity options like 4G LTE support, NFC, and USB Type-C port.

Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus specifications
Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus, on the other hand, features a 5.7-inch display with 2.5D curved glass, Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, a 3,800mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support, and USB Type-C port.

Apart from launching the Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus smartphones, Xiaomi today also launched the Mi TV 3s. This new smart TV is quite slim with a 9.9mm thin body, and features a 65-inch 4K display, and fifth generation engine and HDR display technology. It comes with 2GB RAM and 8GB onboard storage and is powered by Amlogic 64 Wei flagship processor clocked at 1.8GHz and paired with Cortex-A53 and Mali-T830. The Xiaomi Mi TV 3s is priced at  4,999 Yuan (Rs 49,000 approximately).

Xiaomi launched the Mi Band 2

Xiaomi launched the Mi Band 2 in India

The company is putting the Mi Band 2 on sale for the first time.
The Mi Band 2 is the successor to last year’s Mi Band, which was launched for Rs 999. Xiaomi’s Mi Band 2 is a major upgrade over its predecessors when it comes to the overall design as well as features. The USP of the band is the OLED display, which helps to do away with the need to constantly keep checking the app. The Mi Band had no display and only featured three notification lights, but on the Mi Band 2, you can check fitness data and notifications on the OLED display. Another important feature of the Mi Band 2 is the heart-rate sensor placed at the back, which was missing on the predecessor.

Xiaomi has used military-grade materials, which the company claims help make the sensor resistant to scratches. The Mi Band 2 comes with customized alerts, which are designed to force you to get up from your desk and take a walk at regular intervals. The device is compatible with the Mi Fit app which is available on both Android and iOS. Other than showing activity and sleep data, the app allows users to manage alarms and check incoming calls and app alerts.

The Mi Band 2 is said to deliver battery life of 20 days on a single charge; Xiaomi claims it to be up to four times longer than similar fitness trackers. Xiaomi Mi Band 2 features an ADI accelerometer, an upgraded pedometer algorithm, and it also supports Bluetooth 4.0 (second-gen).

While launching the Mi Band 2, Xiaomi also said that the wearable is tough enough to survive the outdoors courtesy of the IP67 certification that makes it water, sweat and dust resistant. The bands are now made up of hypoallergic silicone that are suitable for different skin types.

Who HACKED YAHOO?

Hackers swiped personal information associated with at least a half billion Yahoo accounts, the internet giant said, marking the biggest data breach in history.

The hack, which took place in 2014, revealed names, email addresses, phone numbers, birth dates and, in some cases, security questions and answers, Yahoo said in a press release. Encrypted passwords, which are jumbled so only a person with the right passcode can read them, were also taken.

The internet pioneer, which is in the process of selling itself to Verizon, said it's "working closely" with law enforcement. It called the hackers a "state-sponsored actor," though it didn't identify a country behind the breach.

Yahoo urged users to change their passwords if they haven't since 2014. The company has 1 billion monthly active users for all its internet services, which span finance, online shopping and fantasy football. Its mail service alone has about 225 million monthly active users, Yahoo told CNET in June.

The hack serves as a reminder of how widespread hacking is and highlights the vulnerability of passwords. Cybersecurity specialists recommend using a different password for each account you have on the internet. Other experts are working on alternatives to passwords, such as biometrics like your fingerprint or retina.

"Cybercriminals know that consumers use the same passwords across websites and applications, which is why these millions of leaked password credentials are so useful for perpetuating fraud," said Brett McDowell, executive director of the FIDO Alliance, an organization that vets the security of password alternatives. "We need to take that ability away from criminals, and the only way to do that is to stop relying on passwords altogether."

Verizon, which is paying $4.83 billion for Yahoo, said it was notified of the massive breach within the last two days. The telecommunications giant had "limited information and understanding of the impact," according to a statement.

"We will evaluate, as the investigation continues, through the lens of overall Verizon interests, including consumers, customers, shareholders and related communities," Verizon said.

B. Riley & Co. analyst Sameet Sinha told The Wall Street Journal the breach was unlikely to affect the sale to Verizon.

Virginia Sen. Mark Warner, a member of the newly formed Senate Cybersecurity Caucus, criticized Yahoo for not discovering the breach when it originally happened in 2014.

"While we have seen more and more data breaches in the private sector in recent years, many of them affecting millions of consumers, the seriousness of this breach at Yahoo is huge," Warner said.

The Privacy Rights Clearinghouse, a nonprofit organization that tracks cybersecurity breaches, said the hack was the largest-ever publicly disclosed breach.

Yahoo has taken steps to protect its users, including invalidating security questions and answers, but the real risk lies in hackers using the passwords on other websites.

"We typically see a 0.1 percent to 2 percent log-in success rate from credential stuffing attacks, meaning that a cybercriminal using 500 million passwords to attempt to take over accounts on another website would be able to take over tens of thousands of accounts on most websites," said Shuman Ghosemajumder, Google's former click-fraud czar and CTO of Shape Security.

Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg's Twitter account was hacked using a similar method after the passwords of more than 100 million LinkedIn members were leaked.

It will take Yahoo at least several months before it starts regaining users' trust, according to research from Alertsec. The encryption provider did a study that found about 97 percent of Americans lose trust in companies like Yahoo after massive data breaches.

"When a company has allowed their customers' data to fall into the hands of criminals, the resulting lack of trust is difficult to repair," CEO Ebba Blitz said in a statement.

On August 1, a hacker named "Peace" claimed to have breached 200 million Yahoo usernames and passwords from a hack in 2012, and offered to sell them on the dark web after trying to do the same with MySpace and LinkedIn accounts.

A person familiar with the situation said Peace's assertion prompted Yahoo to initiate an internal investigation. That investigation found no evidence that substantiated Peace's claim, but the investigating team found indications that a state-sponsored actor had stolen data in 2014.

Former Yahoo information security officer Jeremiah Grossman, now chief of security strategy at SentinelOne, said that internet companies, especially giants like Yahoo, face challenges protecting enormous computer networks because the networks offer so many points of entry to attackers.

"It's unsurprising when breaches, even of this magnitude, take place," Grossman said. "Yahoo certainly isn't the first. And they won't be the last."

Apple Partners Flipkart to Sell iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus in India

Apple Partners Flipkart to Sell iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus in India

HIGHLIGHTS:
iPhone 7 will start at Rs. 60,000 for the 32GB variant
iPhone 7 Plus will start at Rs. 72,000 for the 32GB variant
iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will launch in India on October 7

In an attempt to expand the online availability of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus smartphones in India, Apple has partnered with e-commerce website Flipkart. For those unaware, until recently, Apple had Infibeam as its only authorised online reseller.

The new tie-up with Flipkart will mean the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will be available at the official launch price at the online retailer. The biggest advantage for Flipkart with the partnership will be that it can source the new iPhones from Apple directly, instead of Apple partners. Other retailers such as Snapdeal, Amazon India, and Paytm among others sell the units which they source from Apple partners. These units still carry Apple warranty, so for end users this is unlikely to be a big change. The Flipkart listing for upcoming iPhone 7 series clearly lists other older iPhone models as well, so the partnership is for more than just the newest iPhone units.

Apple has already revealed the prices in India for the entire iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus lineup. The iPhone 7 will start at Rs. 60,000 for the 32GB variant. The iPhone 7 Plus will start at Rs. 72,000 for the same storage capacity. The 128GB and 256GB variants of the iPhone 7 will be priced at Rs. 70,000 and Rs. 80,000 respectively, while the iPhone 7 Plus will priced at Rs. 82,000 and Rs. 92,000 for the same storage capacities.

As announced previously, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be going on sale in the country from October 7.

The new iPhone 7 series sports a refreshed design and the rear antenna bands aren't as prominent as before. Both the phones feature brand new home button that includes force-sensitive technology and uses Taptic vibrations instead of physical tap. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus also come with IP67 water and dust resistance.

Ahead of the launch of new iPhones, Apple slashed the prices for iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and iPhone SE. With the price revision, the 32GB models of iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be available at Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 60,000 respectively. The iPhone SE, on the other hand, will now come at Rs. 44,000 for the 64GB model.

Reasons why Google Allo will beat Whatsapp

We live in an age where technology rules almost every aspect of our overbooked schedules. Today, almost all of our actions, hobbies and even free thought stems from what we read or see online, or which apps clogging up our now limited 16 GB memory space, can offer us. These give us the easiest medium to communicate with fellow humans, even robots (case in point Siri and Cortana) and cares nought for geography, since you can virtually be facing your sister living overseas- spending hours ‘hanging out’ like you would in your room at home. With all the upcoming technological advancements and developments in the field of Artificial Intelligence, our brains are relentless to create more for us, offering us maximum comfort and minimum effort.

And that’s where Google’s new app- ‘Google Allo’ comes in. It has all the oldies in the block sitting at the edge of their seats, because its new and user friendly features will give them all a run for their money.

While Whatsapp dominates the world of Android and iOS messaging alike, and has a user-base of a population of a few large countries combined, Allo might just be on its way to steal its spotlight. Although Whatsapp, with Facebook Messenger and iMessage hot on its heels offers a plethora of highly advanced features that is definitely making life easier for the smartphone user community, Allo does one better and introduces a bunch of ‘smart abilities’, where it can pretty much act as your personal virtual assistant, that will give it its edge.

Although Whatsapp loyalists may speak out against the new app, which is the second part to Google’s new messaging plan with Duo, and remain fiercely loyal to the Facebook-acquired app, here’s a comparison between the two bringing light to the possibility that Google Allo may soon be ‘trumping’ (all puns intended), Whatsapp.
  • The Google Assistant
The reason why this app is like having your own personal assistant is because it is one, albeit virtual of course. Although Whatsapp has unique features of sending across a location, file, picture, audio recording and so on- these are all saved files that are being shared via the app, which makes communication so much closer. However, where Allo differs is that you could be wondering about the travel time to a certain place, or the best available flights to a certain destination or discounts on hotels and all you have to do is type in @google followed your question or order. Next thing you know, it will be providing you with all the details, accompanied by a series of pictures wherever available.
  • Automatic Responses
The app can provide automatic responses to messages on behalf of the user. It does this through a software that contains machine-learning technology, which gets better at picking up the user’s most frequently used responses with increased usage of the app. For instance if someone sends you a ‘How are you?’, the app will offer you the automatic response of ‘Good, how about you’ that you can send across. It may seem impersonal at first but it builds up with greater use and is definitely convenient for those who are on the run and are too busy to type out a response.
  • Picture Recognition
Google has incorporated ‘photo recognition’ in this app, making it possible for it to recognize a received picture and suggest an automatic response. For example, if someone sends you a picture of a sunset, it will suggest ‘beautiful’ or ‘wow’ as a response, depending on your maximum usage of either, from which you can choose the more applicable one and send it across.
  • In-message searches
You could be making dinner plans or raving about the hot new song to people on WhatsApp – each time you wish to share and exchange information - you have to close WhatsApp (or run it in the background, if it suits your fancy) and get to a food/music app to copy the concerned links/files to send in the chat. With Google Allo, you can just type @google and ask about prospective restaurants or the particular song in the middle of the chat and it will provide you with the links to both in the chat- so it can be viewed and shared with your contact at your discretion. So it’s saving the user the trouble of temporarily closing the chat to find the relevant data, providing it on screen for both instead.
  • Text formatting and more advanced features
Google Allo allows you to format your text and send across larger and smaller font sizes of text messages, allowing you to increase or decrease the text size by sliding the send button up and down respectively, a feature that Whatsapp does not allow. It also has a wider array of sticker-collection and even allows the user to scribble on pictures before sending it across.
  • Selective end to end encryption
While both Whatsapp and Allo offer end to end encryption for chats, the latter allows for ‘selective end to end encryption’, which means that you can select the contact you want to chat with in incognito mode, through its ‘Incognito Chat’ option. Along with this, the chat history will disappear after you have finished the talk, depending on the expiration period you have set. In case, you have switched off your expiration period, the chats won't disappear.
  • It’s got the Google brand tagline
Of course, WhatsApp has been acquired by Facebook, but Google Allo is a pure Google creation. The intention behind not incorporating features like direct calling or video calls is to redirect users to other Google apps like Duo and Hangouts. It has the power of the sworn-by ‘google search’ both inside and outside a chat-box and also makes communication easier and much more secure for the user.

Although Whatsapp is the current undisputed leader of the virtual-chat communications platform, there is a possibility that Google Allo will soon take the lead. What do you think? Let me know in the comments below!

Google launches Allo, its AI-centric messaging app
Google's new messaging app is here.

The company is launching Allo, its AI-centric messaging app for iOS and Android that offers an early peek at some of its most robust artificial intelligence capabilities yet. First previewed during its I/O developer conference earlier this year, the app combines the best of Google's predictive and search superpowers along with an all-new personal assistant feature.

At first glance, Allo looks very similar to many other messaging apps. You sign up with your phone number and after verifying your identity, the app scans your address book to find people you may know who are also using the app.

Beginning a one-on-one or group chat is fairly straightforward. In addition to the standard text messages, you can record a voice message, send a photo with a doodle (for Android only right now), or share a map to your current location. The app also includes a number of themed sticker packs you can use to liven up your chats.

The reason you'll want to use Allo is because it offers a hint at the AI-filled future Google envisions.

But none of that is why you'll want to use Allo. The reason you'll want to use Allo is because it offers a hint at the AI-filled future Google envisions. It's home to Google Assistant, the new conversational assistant that Google plans to bring to many more of its consumer products.

The first sign that Allo is a bit smarter than the standard messaging app is through a feature called Smart Replies. Throughout your conversations, the app will suggest words and phrases before you start typing. If someone asks "how was your weekend," for instance, the app may suggest "it was good" or "fun." Google has been experimenting with this type of technology for awhile — it rolled out a similar feature for its email app, Inbox, last year — and Allo's Smart Replies are surprisingly good. In my early testing, the automatically generated responses were useful more often than not, though they did occasionally miss the mark.
Allo's Smart Replies.

Even more impressive, Google has combined this feature with its photo recognition abilities, so the app is able to suggest responses to photos that are shared within your conversation.

But Smart Replies are just the start of Allo's AI savvy. More importantly, the app is Google's first opportunity to show off Google Assistant.

It's all about the Assistant

First off, a quick word about (the rather poorly named) Google Assistant. While you'd be forgiven for thinking it's a bot like those used in Facebook Messenger, Kik and other apps, Google Assistant is much more than a simple messaging bot, which tend to have a fairly limited set of capabilities. Instead, Google Assistant is much closer to Facebook's vision for M, the social network's own AI-based assistant. (Facebook M, however, is still limited to a small number of early testers and largely depends on humans to oversee its interactions.)

Google Assistant is still in a "preview" stage, according to Google, who plans to bring the feature to many more products in the future, like its smart speaker Google Home. But, preview or not, the feature is already more impressive than gimmicky.

There are two ways to interact with Google Assistant. You can chat with it directly — Assistant appears alongside your other conversations in the app — or you can call it up while you're chatting with friends by starting a message with @Google.

Google Assistant is baked right in

Image: Google

In both cases, it can help with many things that you would use a quick Google search for (think translations, conversions, directions, flight statuses etc.) and even has a few extra tricks, like (again) photo recognition. I uploaded a photo I snapped on a recent vacation to the Mayan pyramid at Chichen Itza in Mexico, and Google Assistant quickly asked me if I wanted to learn more about Mayan history.

When you're in a chat with one or more friends you can use Google Assistant as a kind of shortcut to Google searches. Things that Google can do "natively" like conversions, simple Google searches and translations will appear directly in your chat while other queries will surface links to Google results.

You can call up Google Assistant directly in your conversations.

It may take a little getting used to — it feels a bit clunky to "ask" Google a question in the middle of a conversation — but it's actually pretty useful (and saves a lot of app switching.)

Google Assistant is even more useful when you get it one-on-one. There, in addition to everything else, you can ask the assistant about your calendar, set reminders and get the latest headlines. If you have an Android device, you can also set alarms, timers, search your photos and make phone calls via Google Assistant.

Allo's creators have also made sure that Google Assistant has the nerdy sense of humor we've come to expect from Google. It may not have Siri's dry wit, but it is more than up for a joke or two and you can even play a few games with it.

The "creepy" factor

Google's biggest hurdle with Allo may be convincing people that all this AI isn't creepy. While tech enthusiasts may think its cool that Google can recognize the photos I'm sharing, predict what messages I want to write, and help me make weekend plans, others may find it a bit creepy. But Google has made efforts to address the concerns of the privacy conscious as well.

Messages sent within Allo are encrypted by default, but don't use end-to-end encryption, a standard favored by members of the security community and privacy advocates. You can, however, opt for an incognito chat, which does use end-to-end encryption. These conversations can also include self-destructing messages and the ability to block new messages from appearing on your phone's lock screen.

Whether or not these features will be enough to persuade skeptics is another matter. But if Google can make its assistant feel more necessary than creepy, then it might win people over. While Google's future plans for the feature are so far unclear, it's already promised we'll see it in a lot more places very soon and that it will only improve and get smarter over time. And that certainly seems like a good start.

This startup has no offices and unlimited vacation:

Toptal

Toptal co-founders Taso Du Val, left, and Braenden Beneschott.

By the time Breanden Beneschott graduated from Princeton, his startup for placing technical freelance workers with companies, Toptal, was already doing about $1 million a year in revenue.
Nearly six years later, the company is "flying way past" $100 million annually, has clients ranging from the Cleveland Cavaliers to Airbnb, has hundreds of employees - and not a single office space anywhere in the world.

Beneschott cofounded Toptal while he was still in school at Princeton University, where he paid his own way. In order to put himself through school, he taught himself to be a software developer and started to do freelance work. Very quickly, he realized the pain of navigating the freelance world, both as a freelancer and someone looking to hire freelancers.

The idea for Toptal was born out of this realization. There were plenty of talented technical freelancers, and lots of companies who needed short-term help, but there wasn't an efficient way to connect them.

As Toptal grew, Beneschott and his cofounder, Taso Du Val, had a decision to make: go the traditional Silicon Valley startup route or take a different path?

"I asked myself, are we going to do that assumed route of 'I'm going to move to Silicon Valley and raise a $10 million Series A and get a big office and really go with this,' and I didn't really want to," Beneschott told Business Insider.

The pair decided to move somewhere that was not only much cheaper than the Bay Area, but also had a wealth of smart people with fewer local job opportunities. They chose Budapest, Hungary. But that was only the beginning of the journey....

"There are no offices - everybody is encouraged to travel," Beneschott says of the Toptal team.

'No matter where you are in the world...you're behind'

Toptal's employees live like the freelancers it serves. The company now has hundreds of employees in more than 30 locations around the world, but anybody can work from anywhere. The company also has an unlimited vacation policy an encourages its employees to travel as much as they want.

"If you're cut from a certain cloth, you really avoid burn-out with a lifestyle like this," Beneschott said. "Traveling constantly and going to new places and feeling refreshed daily - as opposed to sitting in an office and staring at a clock in a cubicle - your life kind of becomes your work and your work becomes your life."

Beneschott travels with only three or four bags, which contain his work computer, a 10-pack of black t-shirts, and snowboard equipment or polo gear.
Toptal

"We had the 'penthouse to have' in downtown Budapest and had an amazing time as young single 20-somethings," Beneschott says of the early years of Toptal.

This might not sound ideal for people who crave a defined work-life balance, though, and for those new to the company, it can sometimes come as a surprise.
Toptal doesn't schedule meetings. If you need to get ahold of someone, you ping them on Skype and talk right then and there.

"People can be watching a soccer game or standing in line at a movie theater or even out on the town," Beneschott said. "People are shocked when they first come to the company at just how available people are around the clock. It's not because they're chained to their desk, it's because they've figured out how to be available while living a hell of a life."

So how does Toptal keep track of hundreds of employees in multiple time zones?

"We use a lot of time-conversion tools," Beneschott said with a laugh. "But no matter where you are in the world and what time you wake up, you're behind. Which, for the right person, is a really exhilarating feeling. You wake up and drink a Bulletproof Coffee and you dive right in and it's just non-stop. It's constant change and constant problem solving."

Taking a break from travel - for the moment

Beneschott himself has now lived in nearly 35 countries since his big move to Budapest. A self-described "summer chaser," Beneschott stays in countries in Europe and South America for a couple months at a time. This type of lifestyle is ideal for the way he works, he says.

Beneschott travels for another reason: he's an avid polo player, a sport he competes in worldwide. Friends in Budapest first got him into the sport in the early years of Toptal and he plays often, even recruiting fellow Toptal employees to join him.

"We probably have the highest concentration of computer scientist polo players in the world," Beneschott said.
what a life.....!

How to track your vehicle on the cheap, using your smartphone?

New tracking method adapted to all budgets.

Lost your car and can’t remember where you parked? It happens to the best of us: wandering aimlessly through parking lots, clicking the panic button on your key chain to get your headlights to illuminate.

You don’t need some speedy radio transponder to keep tabs on your car. Up-linking your wheels to the great eye in the sky without breaking the bank is easier than you think.

Standalone GPS and radio triangulation units can cost hundreds. And that’s not counting the installation and (frequently hefty) activation and monthly fees associated with whatever service you do choose. For most of us, it’s overkill. The good news is that some of life’s biggest problems seem to be disappearing because of new technology. If you frequently forget where you parked your car, there is a tiny gadget and app that could be what you’re looking for.

What is it about?

It’s about Trackr, A small and discreet device the size of a coin that is revolutionizing the market.
